Thank you for the Community Support at the 2026 Richmond Pride Walk!

Thanks for coming to the 4th annual Richmond Pride Walk! There was over 400 people there to support love, friendship and community. I am so humbled to see the level of support there is for our 2SLGBTQ+ neighbours, loved ones, and friends. It was a day to be remembered, and your presence as a community made it special.

A huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers and community organizations who came and put in hard work to make the event happen. We could not have done it without your support.

See you there next year for the 5th annual 2027 Richmond Pride Walk!

Congratulations to Harold Steves on the Medal of Good Citizenship, 2026

Congratulations Harold Steves on the Medal of Good citizenship. Your dedication to food sustainability and the protection of natural habitat is inspiring, with a long-lasting legacy through the Agricultural Land Reserve, which protects the food security of Richmond. In the community, you steward the next generation of climate leaders and innovators, and are a true role model.

Make Your Emergency Ready Plan

In an emergency, do you know what your first steps would be? Being prepared includes not only having a great emergency kit with physical items to help you, but also having a detailed plan with your family, friends and neighbours to know where you will be, what you will do, and who to call if you need help.

Free emergency preparedness guides are available at PreparedBC, in both PDF format and as a web app. If you prefer paper copies, I have them available in my office, at 115-4011 Bayview Street, Richmond.

For wildfire safety, there is an additional guide with specific information about wildfires that can be found:

Public Charging Network Expansion

In addition to BC Hydro’s 3,500 public charging ports, the Province is helping businesses, non-profit organizations, Indigenous communities, local governments, utilities and public-sector organizations expand B.C.’s charging network.

The public charger program is open for applications, and if you are a member of any of the above organizations, and want to provide charging and get rebates for the project costs, applications are accepted until September 18th.

Safe Summer Driving and Camping Information

It is wildfire season, and before you go, ensure to check road conditions, ensure to pack sun-smart, and be conscious of fire regulations and safety precautions.

It is also important to stay sun safe. On hot days, ensure to pack plenty of water, sunscreen, hats, and protective clothing. More information about staying cool can be found at: Be prepared for extreme heat and drought - Province of British Columbia. If you prefer a paper copy of this guide, they are available at my constituency office at 115-4011 Bayview Street, Richmond.

Strengthening Emergency Operations Centres in B.C.

The Province is providing approximately $3.5 million for 110 projects to support local emergency operations centres through the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund

This funding will help local governments and First Nations with the equipment, training and exercises they need to run their emergency operations centres effectively, so communities throughout B.C. get the support they need as quickly as possible.

Completed Upgrades at the Jimmy (Judd) Slough Diking Project

It was a great experience to visit the completed diking project in Squamish with MLA Suzie Chant.

These upgrades protect a significant portion of Squamish and address one of the community’s most pressing needs. I’m grateful for the collaboration between the Province, the federal government and District of Squamish that made this important project possible.

The completed Jimmy (Judd) Slough project works to date include the raising and widening of approximately 900 metres of the Squamish River dike, a new culvert, adding stone rip-rap erosion protection for the raised portion of the dike, and a new vehicle turnout and upgraded access ramp.

Visit to the Richmond RCMP with Minister Terry Yeung

Thank you to the Minister of State for Community Safety and Integrated Services Terry Yung for joining me to visit the Richmond RCMP.

We discussed street issues, local public-safety priorities, and how the Province can continue supporting targeted enforcement through programs like the Community Safety and Targeted Enforcement Program and the Specialized Investigation and Targeted Enforcement Program.

Thank you to the Richmond RCMP for the important work you do every day.
