June is PRIDE MONTH!

Happy Pride Month! June is a time for the 2SLGBTQ+ community and allies alike to come together and celebrate love and togetherness. Without diversity, the world would be a boring place. 🌈 💕

This year, we are holding the annual Richmond PRIDE walk on Saturday July 25th at 11am on Steveston Boardwalk (Bayview & No.1 Rd).

If you are interested in volunteering for the event, please feel free to reach out to me at Kelly.Greene.MLA@leg.bc.ca and we can be in-touch to discuss opportunities.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Training People in B.C. for In-Demand Skilled Trades

Thousands of people will benefit from B.C.’s $241-million investment in skilled trades training, expanding access to good-paying jobs for people in British Columbia, while ensuring employers have workers to deliver major projects.

We are expanding training capacity where it’s needed most and helping people get into rewarding trades careers faster, while also building up B.C.’s economy.

Project Goals:

  • Fund up to 5,000 new trades training seats

  • Cut waitlists for in-demand trades programs

  • Increase per-seat funding across apprenticeship programs

  • Better connect training with employer needs and expand access throughout the province

Meeting with the Richmond School District

I really appreciate every opportunity to collaborate with the Richmond School District as we work together to fund school additions and seismic upgrades.

Since 2017, our government has approved $319.4 million (including $61.1 million from the School District) to construct 4 additions creating 745 new student seats, as well as one seismic replacement and 12 seismic upgrade projects-- all right here in Richmond.

An impressive project, started last fall, to purchase and renovate the newly-named City Centre Elementary School and get it ready to open for students this September illustrates the great work going on with the district and the government.

Thank you to Trustees Hamaguchi and Larson, Superintendent Usih and Secretary Treasurer Wang, for meeting with me and Minister Bowinn Ma, and Minister Lisa Beare in Victoria this session.
